What determines the Bits amount?
For a video that supports trimming, playback time is the selected end time minus the start time, divided by playback speed. The base price uses that duration, the channel’s Bits-per-second rate and its minimum price. An enabled subscriber discount can change the rate for verified subscribers.
The final price must match an available Twitch Bits product, so it can differ from a simple seconds-times-rate calculation. The amount shown in the extension and Twitch confirmation is the amount to check before purchasing.
For example, a 30-second selection at normal speed has 30 seconds of playback. At an illustrative rate of 2 Bits per second, its base calculation is 60 Bits before minimum-price, discount and product-rounding rules. These are example settings, not a price promised for every channel.
Set a length your stream can handle
The maximum request length applies to playback duration. Slowing a supported video makes that duration longer; speeding it up makes it shorter. Viewers may need to shorten their selection to fit the channel limit.
Twitch Clips play in full at normal speed. A Clip longer than the channel’s maximum is refused rather than trimmed. YouTube and Twitch VOD requests have different controls because their official players expose different capabilities.
Does payment guarantee playback?
No. A confirmed purchase creates a request, which remains subject to moderation, queue management and provider availability. It may be rejected, skipped or fail to play. Bits purchases are final; rejecting a request does not automatically return Bits.
Better Media Share checks the Twitch transaction before accepting a paid request. Viewers should follow any retry instruction shown for a confirmation already in progress rather than starting another purchase. Read the terms and the channel’s instructions before submitting.
Can viewers use Channel Points or free chat requests?
The current viewer flow uses Bits inside the Twitch extension. Better Media Share does not offer Channel Points redemption, a separate website request form or a free chat-command request flow. Broadcasters and moderators with Add media permission can add videos manually without Bits.
If you are comparing different request models, see Better Media Share and Streamlabs Media Share.
