Add the player as a Browser source

  1. Sign in to Better Media Share with Twitch. Open your channel’s Setup page.
  2. Select Create OBS browser source. Copy the complete private URL, including the part after the # symbol. Keep it out of screenshots, chat and public documents.
  3. In OBS, add a Browser source. Select the + button in Sources, choose Browser and give it a recognizable name.
  4. Paste the URL. Use a width of 1920 and a height of 1080. Position and resize the source on your canvas.
  5. Choose Use OBS for playback in Setup. The dashboard manages the queue while OBS plays it.

Creating a new player URL revokes the previous one. If you replace it, update OBS too. The streaming PC connects to the hosted service; you do not need to open an inbound port on your router.

Get the picture and sound ready

In the OBS Browser source properties, enable Control audio via OBS and check the source’s level in the Audio Mixer. If the player asks you to start playback, right-click the source, choose Interact and use its playback button.

Better Media Share uses one active playback surface for a channel. To keep playback in OBS, leave Play video on site off in the dashboard. Turn it on only when you want the dashboard to take over playback.

Setup includes Send test video, which queues a short test clip without Bits. Use it to check framing and audio before your broadcast. This adds media to your player, so choose a time when showing a test clip is appropriate.

Connect viewer requests to your stream

The OBS player and Twitch extension have different jobs. OBS shows approved media on your stream; the Twitch extension lets viewers submit it. In Twitch’s extension manager, install and activate Better Media Share when it is available to your account. Return to Setup and use Check activation.

Before opening requests, set your Bits pricing and maximum duration, turn queue moderation on, and add your moderators. The viewer request guide explains the submission flow.

Why is my OBS player empty or silent?

Player offline
Check that the Browser source is loaded and still uses your current private URL. A newly generated URL invalidates the old one.
Dashboard plays, OBS does not
Choose Use OBS for playback in Setup. Only one surface owns playback at a time.
Picture but no sound
Check the Browser source’s audio settings and mixer level. Use Interact if the embedded player needs a click to start.
A particular video fails
Check that it is still public and embeddable in the player’s location. Try another eligible link; changing your scene cannot remove a provider restriction.

For OBS’s own Browser source settings, see the official OBS Browser Source documentation.
